WANDERING THOUGHTS

Humans get impressioned by a lot of things...things that are seen...that are heard...that are read....and most importantly that are thought conciously or unconciously...though a lot of cases thought is defined by what we see, hear, read, observe, feel, intuite or even at times blabber...this is what my blog is all about...its a simple collation of my wandering thoughts occuring at various points of my journey called life....It may make sense to you....seem absurd...but I am what I am...Feel free to comment...respond...quarrel and infact I am more than happy to know more about me through your views on my thoughts...YO BABY YO

36 China Town

This is the reason I am awake...n I am posting...I really wanted to sleep but my flattie (room mate is roomie...flat mate shud be flattie...rite?) was seeing this and sharing the same hall...I had to watch it tooo...but it was decent....

as long as u don expect a major killer thriller...the movie is very good to spend 2+hrs...jus moves on with practically nothing but some timing comedy n some flashy babes....but worth watching once if u have nothing else to do in life....

Dragon Boat Festival

Today is some Chinese festival...where the Chinese race boats...with very interesting decorations....Mythologically, there was a period when the Chinese King (the Chu Government) used to be a tyrant and there was a very famous poet (Qu Yuan) who tried to give advice to the King to correct him but failed...Having failed too many times, he committed suicide by drowning into the river and there are two branches to the story now....one says...the boats are raced in an attempt to try to find his body before any sea animals end up troubling the body....the other says....the boats are raced with the big drums to scare away fishes...so they wont eat the poet's body....thanks to wiki...I know so much...there is another aspect as well, they eat rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo...

We had been off to see this event at the Stanley Market....The race and all were pretty neat and the beach was a good place to look at but it was a little disappointing that the boat decorations were no where close to what is seen in snaps if u google...I guess the Stanley Market Boat Race wasnt the best place...I hear Sha Tin in New Territories probably is the best....Check out one of the snaps.....the decorations were really minor compared some of the other boat racing festivals I have seen....

But overall an average day....Came back from this...had a long freewheeling argument on nothing with two of my other bachelor friends here....n then slept...woke up...lazed around...in effect doing nothing :)

Airline Tickets!!!

How amazing...there are sources to get tickets at cheaper than the airline's own website...y do the airlines want to hurt themselves? Wudnt the online website be cheaper for the airline companies??? Whats the business model there?

Anyways...I can see the other side of the story as well...the airline agency industry has its own economies of scale...

but wen u r a customer...u seem to see things that u don see wen u r part of the industry :)

I probably can change my blog title to perspectives...somehow each blog seems to veer towards this one word!!!

Aval - Sila varudangal munnal paditha kavithai

kavithai ezhutha kettargal....ore vaarthaiyil sonnen "Aval".....aval ennai kettu irunthaal innum surukkamaga solli iruppen "Nee"...........

This literally means "I was asked to write a poem and I said 'HER', had she asked me I would have made it even shorter 'U'"

Arputhamana kavithai, aazhntha sinthanai.....BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!! 8-10 varudangalukku munnal paditha kavithai...aval aaayriram mayilgalukku appal irukkayil inru manathinai neghiyachcheigirathu....

For the Non-Tamils....I am trying to say that I read this 8-10 yrs ago...but I remembered it today...n it makes me feel weak being seperated from her by thousands of miles....

HER

!!!!!!!!!!! Thats one part of my wandering thoughts that I had blocked out of the blog till date....All that with a reason...DOnt ask me who, why, where, how...ONE DAY....yeah ONE REALLY FINE DAY.....she will be with me....n thr wud be changes galore.....me will become us....my wud become our....my views may change....my impressions may change...but two things are certain...the SVK will be the same....n the web URL would be the same.....

SHE roxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

n while in her thoughts...in her "aura" life roxxxx as well

END of the weekEND!!!

Monday beckons....A hard day's work...after two days of hard rocking (yeah this time it truly was ROCKing) enjoyment :)

Somehow today I am filled with thoughts of a playground filled with more P.Ed. masters than boys and girls really wanting to play.....more rules and change of rules and more time spent on that than real game...why but why?

But I guess its just a passing dream....By the time I get to office tomorrow it should all be fine...my arbit dreams long gone (is it really arbit? and is this symptomatic of no sur in surREAL) and mind filled with enthusiasm to beat the nearest competition by a mile....energy to make more out of every moment than your nearest neighbouring knowledge worker....

Hoping for a nice day tomorrow...infact it shudve been a week but this is short week. The Tuesday is a holiday...Thanks to some Chinese something....festival? birthday of a leader? I dont really remember...Shud look it up...But all the same, its a holiday and one more walk on another HK country trail beckons....

Thinking of it...I really do like HK...living in HK seems so much more easy and comfortable....but yeah I am missing one thign badly...the comfort of her being next to me.....lemme hope I can get her here toooooooooooooooooooooo

Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail

HK island is a place which seems to be skyscrapers n buildings n people and concrete and nothing else...but its also an island with a lot of natural beauty....the peak entends out and in and around the reservoir area...thr r two reservoirs...infact reservoir groups....Tai Tam Reservoir Group and Wong Nai Chung Reservoir....nice trails in and around....

I have been in Tai Tam Trail and Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail....went to the latter just today....nice scenery...mini streams all thru the trail....one can walk up those stones on a non-rainy day....if u wanna see some of the snaps...visit here.....

if u wanna try....catch any bus from central to stanley....going via Wong Nai Chung Gap (not through Aberdeen tunnel).....and get down at Tai Tam Reservoir Road stop...n walk into the hills...

Shootout at Lokhandwala

The climax remains in our mind...."Kya aapke ghar ke bahaar ek aaadmi gun pakad ke khade rahen tho....kaun hona hei woh aaadmi....Maya?...Buwa?....Shamsher Khan"

Worth Watching Once.....a decent movie...no skin...not too many unneccessary characters....thr r some songs but not many....one of them seemed frivolous but still the movie moves on even those places....good end....i wudve preferred had stopped it at the point of the question..thr i a news report which says the court has decided...n some judgement...the question was put to the judge...the community....u and me....wudve been better left at the question...

nalaki morning seekaram ezhunthu oru walking trail poganum...shucks mane!! waking up early is painful.....but nature and sceneries in Tai Tam Reservoir invites :)

Fedex

For a change...here is a winner who is royal...who is graceful...even when he loses.....

Look at AUS...Look at "the special one"......they r the world beaters.....crushing everyone who is ready to come to field.....dominating all n sundry...but wen they lose....praise for the opponents is hardly forthcoming!!!

Look at Alonso...he is practically the definition of disgrace...wen he loses....infact he hasnt even lost the championship this time....the rookie has just gone into a lead...n he says....thr is a nationalisitic feeling in the team n he feels left out!!! Amazing show of solidarity with the team...last year....ditto....he started saying the world was foul when schumi started getting points....(i am no commenting abt schumi or ferrari thought i do like both of these characters...thats for a seperate post)....SADDDDDDDDDDDDDD that thr isnt a better champion in a sport whr individual brilliance is as neccessary as team play....

But Fedex is a real champion...he says "I tried and I came up short. I’ll fare better next time. I tried and I came up short. I’ll fare better next time." (See http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/news/articles/2007-06-10/200706101181496664296.html) After losing Frech Open a second time in finals...to the one man who has the wood on him...Nadal.....n yeah I like Nadal more than I like Roger...but I rever Roger....he has proven time again he is a champion.....

SudhaR jaao

Owwwwwwwwww mane.....Bangalore...PGDM....1st term :) OB classes.....

nice are the remembrances...never ever thought during my time at Bangalore that I would remember it so nicely.....Seeing Shootout at Lokhandwala right now...the gangsta gives a long speech....warning the policeman about some action from the gang......n the policeman tells a gangster "abi bhi time hei...SudhaR jaaao".....

Cut it to Bangalore....the prof gives a long lecture.....some one joins him to give more global gyaaan...n the class shouts "SudhaR jaao".....

Central to Hong Kong - MTR walk

Possibly the only worst part of the whole MTR system...especially on a week day morning at 8.30-9-ish.....Man....its a sea of people and all you hear is the clonking of shoes......baddddddddddd way to start ur day....u sweat like crazy n u r already exhausted even before u r in the office!!!

Take a bus if u can.....to avoid it in the morning...Buses are also a good mode of trans in HK anyways....but evenings..non-pak hours....MTR simply is phenomenal....simple and simply brilliant

Managersssssssssss

What is management? Answer from one of those amazing consultants...(yeah...the consultant word is misused more times than the number of times sun has ever risen in the east...so WAT?)!!!!

******The hero of the Scene...A senior manager...top level executive...reporting relationship goes close to CxO

Scene 1: With his direct reportees.....

"cmon guys...dont give me these 'flexibility', 'global' terms to bring problems...meet the dates and gimme sumthing that works...make it inflexible where forced to"

Scene 2: To all and sundry in the line and file

"global, flexible...thats what we are known for..."

But yeah...as one other friend said....The Show Must Go On folks...life keeps rocking.... *****

Brilliant Message I Read

Courtesy - mailing list called PravsWorld. Go to www.pravsworld.com

The gyst of the message is

Anything u c can be classed Good or Bad, Simple or Complicated, Easy or Difficult. It is not what it is that is important...it is what you perceive it to be....

profounddddddddd...

Btw..let me make some advertisement for pravsworld...this is a mailing list that sends daily emails - inspirational mails delivered to your mail boxes and that too with a nice picture to go with it...infact this website also provides you other mailing lists wish you may subscribe to...and this whole thing is run by one guy who likes to known more by his work than his name and so likes to call himself Pravs J. Thanks Pravs J...you rock

"Normal" people

Can people be normal at all??

My previous post got me thinking on this...Think of this scenario....

someone is a really "original" person...an individualistic....non-normal person...what is "normal" for this guy? Is abnormal the "normal" for him (yeah...I never change...I am damned male chauvinistic)......

Assume someone is normally a "normal" person....wont he be referred to be in words like "boring" "bland" and probably even more rude words? will he ever be branded "normal"?

So what exactly is "normal" in terms of human behaviour? Can people even be "normal"?

To me, everyone is abnormal...if u dispute it...temme y.....

My Camera, My Blog, Some Sports!!!

After a longgggggggggggg time I am realising what "Stretched Thin" means...but thanks to some hobbies that I have started to inculcate, thanks to some of my dear friends, I am able to maintain a sembalnce of normalcy (yeah normal in my definition)....Friends rock....but GAP roxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx better :)

Ocean Park HK

Really nice to visit...if you have enthu characters to keep you running with energy all day along...can spend one good day there...

This is nice theme park...some water rides...some normal ones...sea lion shows....a good little aquarium...jelly fishes to see...amazing variety at that....dolphin shows....last but not the least the ABYSS (I did not try this...had a prior experience of a similar ride...one experience is enuf)....its very much a mini sea world....I had been once to the sea world in san antonio...

The whole thing is set on hills...thr is a highland area and lowland area...two sections in the theme park...lowland is more of the children's area, aquarium, dolphins, etc while the highland area has the rides and both are connected by a really nice ropeway....the ropeway has an excellent view...best enjoyed on a clear day....

we had been there in a big gang...16 people and enjoyment galore..the weather predictions were rite...there was a mild thunderstorm....lots of rain but the folks thr r efficient...one hr from the rains and all rides were open....since these are on hills and it was a clody rainy day...brilliant scenery...superb chance to observe and click along with the cloud cover on the hill tops and distant buildings appearing misty with the clouds...superb opportunity if u luv to click nature....like i do....went berserk n took abt 250 pics on a single day!!!

n last but not the least...this is run by a not-for-profit organization with an orientation towards educating people about marine life...need to conserve them, etc..it is worth the 185bucks entrance ticket and when you come to know about the not-for-profit part it makes u feel even nicer :)

Also...some tips....if u do get a chance...start from the higland area...get in from the Tai Shue Wan entrance...that way you can escape a lot ofo the crowd which would start at the Main Entrance...Also...thr r special buses from Admiralty Station B exit and Central Star Ferry points...these take u straight to Tai Shue Wan entrance...

Also....try to do as many of the rides (specially the ABYSS and roller coaster) before lunch as u can...thats my take....as for lunch goes...thr r decent chinese eateries...also a pizzeria and McDonalds available but if u r veggie u better take some stuff on u....the pizzeria is strictly non-veg....btw the park open at 10AM and closes at 6/7PM depending on the day of the week....so plan to start ur day early so as to have amximum time there...

West Indies!!!

One of the better days the WI have had in this tour...They took 20 wickets in this match!!! Isnt it sad tat one needs to comment abt WI like this...they used to be the powers of cricket....n such gentlemen at that...sport was played as a sport...not as 11 robots battling against another 11 robots...both sets bad natured with loads of gbberish talked in the centre...n the gibberish called as a mental game....while anywhr else except the so called "centre" it wudve been called unparliamentary!!!

Anyways...I hope for my own biased mind and for the love of cricket (cricket that i define obviously might be and will be different from cricket as u define)...WI cricket gets better...n lets hope ICC also gets some brains and brawns to go along with its dollars n acoounting sheet driven businessmen (right now they seem more a financial corporation than a sports body)....n cricket would again be a game...n not a business

Lazy Saturday

1 hr...64 snaps....4 worthy of dowwnloading to the computer....n 4 phone calls...thats all I accomplished today.....

really lazy saturday..kept sleeping the whole day and finally in the night..started my exploration of HK with my new tool...the camera I bought :) went on the famous HK trams...some 3 stations...walked all the way back....taking snaps on the way....took 64 snaps and got 4 snaps that I really liked at the end of the one hour long journey ;) Start of a longggggggggggggggggg journey i guess....better late than never

Eagerly waiting for tomorrow...Ocean Park is a pretty famous attraction in HK. Going there with a truckload of people from my company...hope the climate holds fine wen we go around....rain or shine we are gonna rock the place tomorrow

Lonely?

What exactly is lonely....i thot spending a whole day by yourself....no phones...no talking to anyone...no human voices was lonely....happened to spend such a day one year back...n felt like hell....but a friend of mine says....the ideal way i wud spend a day is...to be with myself....one or two unknown guys at shops, etc....no one else to meet...no one else to talk...tats is how i relax!!! n he says...i aint lonely coz i have myself....amazing view...i shud probaly try to do it n njai it...for a change...

but coming back...what exactly is lonely...is it a feeling? state of reality?? state of mind? but what?

French Open

This year probably was more closed than any other years....Justine Henin seems to have her name inscribed in the trophy ages before the first ball was played....men's side...slightly more open...infact twice....two guys....federer n nadal decided before the first day...n fedex said "dude...i am bored of you...go away for 14 days n come back n take a crack" or shud i say...since its the french open...nadal says "try it if u can..u have 14 days to practice against bachchas n come back with all u can"...

but still it was fun watching...the serb's musta loved it....4 serbs in semis....n for a change...americans didnt really turn up for a grandlslam they way they normally do...is this good for the game tat the whole game is shifting base from US to Spain?? most teenagers seem to practice in the hard surfaces of Spain now a days....n seem to play more power tennis than "tennis" tennis....i guess i am saying my veiws abt how tennis shud be...i respect tat many others wud think power tennis is THE game....reserve such feelings for the comments section guys...

Ganguly - Is he an enigma?

Think of it...Here is a guy...who was born into some kind of a old royal family....practised cricket...played for his country....got rejected....came back again...led his country...had his own political battles (the country's cricket anyways is riddled with a whole lot of poltics).....n got chucked out...n then came back more due to noone available to better than him than becoz he is brilliant...n is doing reasonably good...not expceptional but not failure as well...

so...y does he split the country like no other current cricketer (mebbe with the exception of shud tendulkar retire or not)....if we talk of comebacks....thr r other ppl who have made comebacks...the red hanki of Jimmy Amarnath comes to mind....even Navjot sidhdhu to an extent....ppl who were affected by politics or who did politicking well...i doubt if anyone can beat our new cricket president...he is a politician by profession....thr r even better folks who have done better politics....batting brilliance....he is brilliant but thr r others who r as brilliant....so?? so wat is it tat makes him a newsman's delight? whether its his escapades with a south indian actress (this isnt sumthing new to indian cricket...is it? remember sangeeta n azzu?)...or his offside drives (i am not talking of apples to apples but still thr r others like vishy or tendulkar or many other who have similar majesty to their game)....

i cant find a reason...but tat doesnt mean my heart doesnt root one way or other...i am firmly in the tiger's side...he roxxxxxxxxxxxx...

i am anyways biased to all leftie batsmen....more so to someone who is charismatic and flamboyant than someone consistent...so tat may be my reasons....if u have any other reasons!!! you know wat i wud say...the standard feel free to comment...fight...argue....blast....watever

WHat is it sports and Britain!!!??

The homeland is cricket is Lords...whether the England team plays anything resembling to cricket or play in another world closer to the bopttom most of the test teams ladder...
Wimbledon is the heart of tennis...whether there is any English guy competing beyond the round of 128 there or not...
Home of Motorsport is Silverstone....though for ages there hasnt been a English grandprix chanpion!!!
European Soccer...Premiership is the best club game in Europe (being a ardent follower of EPL I wud say its the best on the world)...But English teams havent had as much success as Italian or Spanish teams seem to have....
Why? Whats it with the British...they start a new game for the sake of others to play n them to watch is it?
I have no guesses to the reason. The wildest guess I can take is....Its a slightly perverted way of enjoyment to get others play newer and newer sports and we can watch n njai it!!! Mebbe!! Who knows ;)

Chronicling my life - This Week

Has been pretty good..my team size has increased by one more number...Had a really enlightening conversation with one guy..saw the other side of life...He is direct opposite of me...I am generalist who believes in breadth of knowledge than the depth of understanding...this week I realised the other is needed to balance out people like me n make IT a workable field...n I realised....thr r other things more rewarding things than just a promotion or a pay hike or watever..One of my colleagues said "I saw my dream come true...I met the guy whose brainchild is *** (dont want to offend the guy who said this by publishing it to the world)...tat tops everything else I have acheived in this job"....owww hope to feel sumthing like this...have this passion for something...one fine day in my life!!!

Thinking about Einstein in the dead of the night.

Yesterday was a completely tight day...had loads of work...once done I was cooking and by the time i sat down to trawl through the web looking for blogs which I may find "interesting/useful", I saw one question....What is the gender of a computer!!! I could not think of a reson but guess what I realised Einstein rox even on a night....I might say computer is feminine since it captivates me enough to be sitting infront of it on a friday night even after being so tired....making me sit down to browse!!! But comign to it...a female would say computer is male....isnt that the easiest way to explain relativity!!! Relativity roxxx Einstein roxxx Science roxx....so wat the hell am i doin rite now working towards selling more "heads" to my client and making sure "our" heads are better our competitor's heads!!! Man...futility of life....n still this life seems to hold enough to make me feel happy...smile...laugh...play n cook n eat and come back to my browsing!!! Am I starting to blabber??? Am I getting madder by the day? God help me!! Sorry Einstein help me.....
